Cardiac Catheterization Lab

In a cardiac catheterization procedure, a small, hollow tube is inserted into a blood vessel. Once inserted, a number of procedures can be performed through the catheter, including measuring the pressure within the heart’s chambers, collecting biopsies, angiogram, and angioplasty.

The two cardiac catheterization laboratory suites are staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week and are equipped with the latest digital technology and tools to help guide procedures with precision. Interventional cardiologists also perform diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization through the arm (using the radial artery), a new technique that is more comfortable for patients and offers a faster recovery.

If you are experiencing symptoms of a heart attack, you will be seen first by a physician in the emergency room. If it is determined you are having a heart attack, you will be moved to cardiac catheterization, where a cardiologist can evaluate coronary arteries and open significant blockages within the arteries.
